The Story of a Community, a column portraying the history of Bedford Park, a neighbourhood in north Toronto, Canada, began appearing in 2003 in Community Life, a paper produced by Fairlawn Avenue United Church. The stories are written by Gary Schlee.

  1. Hello Mr. Schlee. I’ve really enjoyed reading your articles about early settlers in the area. I’m in the midst of preparing a talk on “York in 1812” and will use some of the information you’ve provided. Have you published any books? I think your articles could easily be compiled into a fascinating and successful publication.

  2. Hello Gary, I found your article on 1793 – Yonge Street quite interesting. I can see that you have studied Jones’s survey notes quite thoroughly. I found it fascination to follow his survey notes in Google Earth and having his descriptions line up with the terrain accurately. Unfortunate that Percy Robinson was born 35 years too early.
